Critical care has always had high rates of burnout, and these rates have drastically increased during the past two years of the pandemic. It has gotten to the point that hospital administration and the world at large are taking notice. As critical care professionals, we have an intimate knowledge of the demand of our work and therefore are best informed to curb burnout. It starts with listening, assessing the landscape, and getting ideas for change from within. It is imperative that societies such as SCCM take the lead in addressing an issue that will cripple our field if allowed to progress. This session brings together experts in ICU burnout on the nursing, clinician, and systemic level. Our goal is to increase understanding and spark awareness, discussion, and ideas for change.
