Multiple rib fractures can have a good prognosis if patients receive timely therapy. The selection of conservative versus operative therapy is an important factor regarding therapeutic effects, recovery, and potential complications. This session will debate the two different treatment approaches for multiple rib fractures and compare the benefits, allowing development of guidelines to optimize management of this high-risk trauma population. Additional therapies, such as cryoablation, regional anesthesia, multimodal analgesia, and ventilator weaning protocols to reduce ICU length of stay and improve outcomes will also be highlighted.
