The global human environment is impacted by climate change, increasing urbanization, and the burning of fossil fuels, leading to a multitude of effects on human health. Urban air pollution, a warming climate, and increasing natural disasters are linked to increasing incidence and worsening outcomes of various cardiopulmonary diseases. The goals of this session are to explore the interaction of climate and human environment with critical illness risk and outcomes. Speakers will examine links between climate and acute respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, and the larger ICU population.
