The broad goal of Dr. Lindell’s clinical and translational research program is to provide high-quality precision care for children with critical illness, particularly in cohorts of children with immune dysfunction. His current research is focused on clinical and translational studies of pediatric septic shock and the development of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) in critically-ill children.
Since joining the University of Pennsylvania faculty, Dr. Lindell has developed a pipeline for prospective immunophenotyping of blood samples from children with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). The development of this longitudinal bedside-to-bench pipeline is supported by an Early Career Award from the Thrasher Research Fund and NIH LRP funding from NICHD. The combination of high-dimensional spectral flow and mass cytometry and comprehensive plasma proteomics represents a modern, multi-omics approach to sepsis immunobiology in children with the potential to advance our mechanistic understanding of pediatric sepsis and MODS.
