Dr. Leo C. Rotello FCCM, FCCP, FACP is the Chief of the Section of Hospital Based Medicine for Johns Hopkins Community Physicians (JHCP). He is also the Chairman of the Medical Staff for Suburban Hospital and has an appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and the Armstrong Institute. He was also one of the inductees into the inaugural class of the JHCP Academy of Clinical Excellence.
Dr. Rotello completed his critical care training at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse NY and served as Associate Professor , Department Chairman and Fellowship Director of the Critical Care Department with joint appointments to the Departments of Medicine, Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Respiratory Therapy From 1991 to 1997. Dr. Rotello moved into private practice in Bethesda Maryland in 1997 and has developed multiple Critical Care Programs throughout the area, including Suburban Hospital , Frederick Memorial Hospital, Virginia Hospital Center and Howard County General Hospital. He joined Johns Hopkins Medicine as a member of JHCP in 2009.
Dr Rotello has authored many publications throughout his career and his present area of interest focuses on Development and Financial Management of Hospital Based Programs on which he has lectured at a local and National level. He Co- Chairs the Armstrong Institute's Critical Care Community for the Johns Hopkins Health System and is very active in patient and family center care approaches in the ICU setting for which he has won several awards .
Dr. Rotello remains very active in the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He is the Chair Elect for the Section of Internal Medicine which is the largest Section in the Society, and he has developed and co- chairs the Intensivists in Practice Committee of the Internal Medicine Section which was established to represent clinically practicing Intensivists.
