Sara A. Hennessy, MD, FACS, FCCM, CNSC is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Surgical ICU Director and Nutrition Support Team Director at Clement's University Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Hennessy completed all of her education at the University of Virginia, where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Biology and Pyschology, followed by her Medical Degree and then General Surgery Residency. She then completed her fellowships in Trauma/Critical Care and then Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery. I have been fortunate enough to create an equally blended practice as a Surgical Intensivist and a MIS/Bariatric Surgeon. In addition to her leadership role in the Surgical ICU and Nutrition Support Team, she is a busy Minimally Invasive Surgeon with a practice in bariatric, foregut and hernia surgery. She also serves as the Associate Program Director of our Advanced GI MIS/Bariatric Fellowship. Her role in the ICU provides her with the unique experience of interacting regularly with surgeons and trainees, as well as caring for patients across various surgical and medical specialities.
