Dr Chet A Morrison, MD, FACS, FCCM is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Central Michigan University School of Medicine and Trauma Medical Director for St Mary’s Ascension Hospital in Saginaw Michigan. He is board certified in Surgery and Critical Care and has been an attending trauma surgeon for 21 years. Dr. Morrison received his BA from Cornell University in 1987, double majoring in Chemistry and Biology; he received his MD from George Washington University in 1991 and his surgical training with the Army at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center. Following two years as a staff surgeon in the Republic of Korea, he completed fellowship training at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. He has held academic appointments at Michigan State University and University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr Morrison is an Iraq war veteran and has also been deployed to Honduras and Colombia and has received several military decorations including a bronze star and the Expert Field Medic Badge. he has had a longstanding association with the SCCM and served on numerous committees, recently chairing the committee that writes the annual Medical Science Knowedge Exam for Critical Care, and currently serving on the SCCM program committee.
Dr. Morrison’s primary interests lie in medical education, Sepsis and Nutritional care in the trauma patient. He has authored multiple trauma papers as well as serving as an institional PI in the multicenter trial on Xigris in septic shock. He is also involved in leadership roles in several other regional and national professional organizations, including ASPEN. He lives with his wife, daughter and stepdaughter in Saginaw Michigan and is trying to master the perfect tennis serve.
