Dr. Clermont is Professor of Critical Care Medicine at the Ubiversity of Pittsburgh and practices at the VA Pittsburgh Health Center, and also holds appointments in Mathematics, Chemical Engineering and Industrial Engineering at the Ubniversity of Pittsburgh. He is a funded investigators with interests in quantitative modeling of disease, predictive analytics, data-driven treatment optimization and clinical support leveraging artificial intelligence. Current research interest include anomaly detection and the identification of data-driven medical errors, mitigation of adverse events during dialysis, forecasting of cardiorespiratory instability in acutely ill patients and general approaches to leveraging multidomain multiresolution data for diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive machine learning applications. He in involved in several ongoing national initiatives including the recently funded national CHoRUS network seeking to develop data and tools for the development of an equitable AI ecosystem in critical care.
