CAUTI rates have skyrocketed with the COVID-induced stresses to our healthcare systems. This presentation will address the many factors that went wrong with catheter utilization and supply chain dynamics and how to address them. They will discuss how to connect data processes with the EMR and utilize tools to improve multidisciplinary rounds to address catheter necessity. Catheter maintenance methods will be discussed as well as how to engage senior leadership to improve the unit culture around maintenance and removal. Strategies to reduce unnecessary cultures and improve the culture of culturing will be provided. Methods to re-create and re-establish nurse driven protocols to address catheter-based infection will be provided.
