This speaker will defend the proposition that use of one or more modes of patient monitoring, including ultrasound, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, either by pulse wave analysis, dilutional techniques, and/or pressure measurement, or perhapsĀ bioimpedance or different methods, play a vital role in monitoring of critically ill patients with shock. Use for diagnosis of the cause of shock is a different issue and is a bit too easy to make the argument for.
