Social media use is an effective way to build a multidisciplinary community. During the course of the pandemic, a community of healthcare providers grew around #pelotonmedtwitter and the @PelotonMed account on twitter. The account has over 4000 unique followers and garnishes between 300,000 to 400,000 impressions monthly. A variety of healthcare workers, including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, dieticians, medical librarians, medical consultants such as financial advisors, over a variety of specialties participate in the community. Highlights of the community include planned group rides, sharing of milestones, and support including giving out high fives (an option on the bike). This brings together aspects of both exercise and community building to improve the health and well-being of providers during the pandemic.
