Simulation is used increasingly in critical care and emergency settings for improving knowledge, skills, attitudes, and performance of multiprofessional healthcare teams. This session will focus on the domains for improving teamwork, communication, quality, and safety of patient care. A tremendous innovation within simulation, applying novel technologies such as gaming and virtual reality in healthcare, shows improved patient outcomes. With advances in simulation technologies and educational methodologies, there is a growing need for guiding the critical care community in developing a simulation-based education curriculum and simulation-based scholarship and research.
