Sleep is vital for proper physiological function. Poor sleep is common in the ICU. There is likely a bidirectional relationship between the pathophysiological mechanisms of sleep disruption and circadian dysrhythmia with delirium manifestation. This session will explore the neurocognitive pathophysiology of interrupted sleep and the consequences that arise from poor sleep quality and inadequate sleep duration.
