Ingestion remains a common cause of morbidity and mortality. Cardiovascular drugs, antidepressants, and antipsychotics are among the most common medication classes that cause toxicities in adult patients. This session is intended as a primer on the types of medication ingestion that can lead to cardiac toxicity as well as the pharmacology associated with each. Some of the ingestion situations that will be discussed have high mortality rates if not identified and treated efficiently and effectively. This session will offer important clinical information, recommendations, and clinical controversies related to safety and efficacy of therapies for patients with refractory symptoms.
