Explore current management principles of critical care during prolonged field care. Experts form both civilian and military sectors will discuss best practices in supporting critically injured and ill patients in resource-limited environments until evacuation can be arranged. Topics will include initial management concerns; traumatic brain injury; burns and wounds; mechanical ventilation; pain, analgesia, and sedation; and nursing care. Resource limitation of blood, surgical supplies, oxygen, and electricity will be discussed. This session will be of interest to those involved in humanitarian relief, combat casualty care, and prehospital management.
