Critically ill patients often experience disturbances in the sleep-wake cycle, leading to interrupted and poor-quality sleep. There is likely a physiologic relationship among circadian rhythm disruption, sleep quality, and delirium. Sleep deprivation contributes to morbidity and mortality, and good sleep is paramount to improved outcomes in both adult and pediatric patients.
