The SCCM NorCal Chapter is a professional, not-for-profit organization composed of critical care practitioners, whose purpose is to foster collaboration among caregivers at the regional level for the enhancement of patient care. Members of the chapter include physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals.
The NorCal Chapter is organized and operates exclusively for educational, scientific and charitable purposes. Our purpose is to improve care for patients with acute life-threatening illnesses and injuries, by promoting the development of optimal facilities and training, and to engage in training, facility development and ethical awareness incidental to the foregoing purposes.
The NorCal Chapter provides its members with educational opportunities, professional resources and a chance for networking with other critical care professionals from across the region. The chapter hosts an annual Research Symposium in May, showcasing the work of our members-in-training and providing a forum to learn about critical care research and quality improvement projects being conducted in Northern California. We periodically hold other educational events to foster improvements in the care of critically ill patients and build professional relationships among their caregivers.
